An overview of laparoscopic closure of duodenal perforation in a tertiary care centre

Duodenal ulcer perforation is one of the most commonly encountered condition in emergency surgery. Laparoscopic repair has been reported many cases since first laparoscopic a duodenal year 1990 by Mouret et al. Aim and objectives were to study clinical outcomes terms duration surgery, post operative pain, initiation oral feeds, surgical site infection hospital stay. Over 2 period, 2018-2020, 20 patients with presumptive diagnosis perforated ulcers considered for closure. Primary closure was done intracorporeal suturing followed omental patch repair. The mean age 38.75±8.53 years, surgery 97.80±7.89 minutes. number analgesic injection 2.90±0.72. feeds 3.20±0.41 days. removal drain 4.65±0.75 days stay 6.20±0.41 No intraoperative complications encountered. Postoperatively, none develop wound infections. In our setting, found be safe promising method management as it appears more beneficial decreased post-operative early length no major postoperatively. However, procedure requires surgeon particular expertise endoscopic skills.
